can you get a PS2 to play pal dvds?

I can get the PAL dvd to play in my roommates APEX DVD player with no problem, but if I try to pop it into my PS2, it tells me the tv system doesnt match....

I think there was another post similiar to this...
but in most cases, you need a PAL TV that can display the propor scanning lines.
Most (if not all) US manufactured TV are NTSC.

This would be correct. Plus I'm just about positive the PS2 would be region locked to only allow R1 (which would be NTSC).

Because they are easily hackable/modded to be region free. Regardless, you still need a TV (or view it on your computer w/ compatible software) that supports PAL.

Apex is like the swiss army knife of players; I believe they specifically advertise that their systems can do stuff like this.

In my experience though they have a ton of features crammed into a piece of crap.

i burned the dvd myself too... dont know if that changes anything, its not from a different region

well you cant, so I just reencoded the video in ntsc and everthing worked great!
