Yes, this is barely worth posting in ATOT, and I wouldn't waste your folks time if it wasn't for the sale this weekend @ Stop & Shop. I got two new packages of Oscar Meyer Chicken/Turkey Bologna. But I already have one opened, so I want to freeze one or two of em if possible.

Is it possible? I've never frozen such an item, so I'm wondering if it's doable.

Thanks folks

Make sure you like all the goo off first or it will expand and render the "meat" "not meat"

nasty shiz when that happens...

[ i recommend that beheaded cat's tongue in the other thread is it doesn;t look like it needs it anymore]

Sure, you can freeze it!

No guarantees about what it will be like when you thaw it though.

Has anyone actually done this, and have it work (i.e. You don't puke your guts out after eating a defrosted slice)?

Thanks

It works, but the bologna ends up a bit grainy or sandy textured. I got the 3 pk of assorted turkey lunchmeats at Costco awhile back and threw two of the packages in the freezer. Everything was edible afterwards, but the bologna fared the worst.

bologna tastes like a$$ even if its fresh out of the package.. I can't imagine freezer burn would help matters.

yes... my parents always bought in bulk when we were younger.. and they always bought bologna and other lunch meats and froze them.

As long as it is sealed it should be good for a couple of weeks.. maybe on to a month, but that may be pushing it.

I would think that bologna wouldn't taste too good after being frozen, so you should wait to freeze it until you know it won't get used right away.

You can pretty much freeze anything. well, except most vegetables and some fruits.

It was on sale eh? I've got to do my own food shopping once in a while. 4 packages of that misc. meat is enough for anybody. It's taking up room reserved for leftovers for crying out loud.
