Can you even play Battlefiled 1942 with 256MB of ram?

Damn, I'm running XP Pro with 256MB (PC133) of ram and BF1942 is eating it up like candy!! When I get to the beginning screen, XP reports 533MB being used!!! This is crazy! At idle I'm using about 120MB, but when I run the game, it jumps to over 530MB. Anyone else here tried playing this game with 256MB of ram? I'd say 512MB is BARE MINIMUM to play this!

Most gamers have a min of 512 mb ram in their rigs anyway.

I have learned through my own experience that windows xp needs a min of 256 mb of ram to run smoothly on its own.

I play Battlefield 1942 w/ 256MB of DDR and a Geforce 2 gts-v and it runs ok. A friend of mine also has 256MB of DDR but a Geforce 4 ti4200 128MB and the game runs very nice in XP Pro...

I'm going to upgrade my vid card before I upgrade my RAM...

I was thinking of getting a single 512MB stick of DDR333, but now I think I'll pick up two! Here is my whole system set up:

XP 1600+
K7S5A
256MB PC133
Radeon 8500 LE (250/275)

I don't like hd thrashing so I NEVER like to see memory usage above my physical memory. Like they say, you can never have enough memory. 🙂

P.S. I still have my P4 rig but I just use my XP rig more (I'm not home very often to use my P4 rig).
