Can You eliminate the "Compaq" Splash Screen From The Bios?

Just bought a refurbished Mobo that is branded with the Compaq Splash screen. Is there any way to get rid of that screen? Since that is the only piece of hardware actually from Compaq, I don't want that to appear. Since its in the Bios, I have a feeling I won't be able to get rid of it.

Yes you can get rid of it... A freind of mine replaced the "award bios" mark with a quake logo...

But i can't tell you how he did it because I don't know... However he used some kind of mod program.

I have heard that the Bios is stored on the hard drive on those Compaq systems, and the logo cannot be removed. I may be wrong, though.

Thanks for the info. The Mobo seems to be from a Presario 5005. I found it through a Hot Deals Link on this web site a month ago.

that doesnt sound right...

if you can dump your bios, edit it and safely flash it, u can kill the logo. maybe you can find an enthusiast site for compaq mobos like abit has, i know tons of peeps take the latest bios beta out and stick some cool graphic with it and let you download it.

Thanks for the info tigerbait, but I'm sure the bios is not stored on the hard drive. I hooked it up to a spare 20GB Hard drive, and it booted right up. Ran Fdisk, formatted no problem.

Guess I'll look in the direction BrutalJoeJoe mentioned.

Compaq really does suck though.
