Some tips I guess:
1) Practice
2) Anime does not teach you how to draw. If you are trying to learn, dbz is not the place to start.
3) Practice
4) As boring as they are (I would rather watch grass grow), still lifes make for great practice. Draw as many of them as you can.
5) Get some real paper (i.e. LARGE). I've definately gone through stacks and stacks of computer paper, but when you get serious with it get yourself some decent, large paper and a drawing board.
6) Practice
7) Challenge yourself. No one gets anywhere drawing a box over and over or just learning by tutorials. If you come up with some badass idea, do it. The harder to draw the better. Play with lighting and perspective (Master perspecitve, I see so many people that don't have it down and it absolutely ruins the picture) and don't settle for "Well I almost got it." If it's not perfect, you're not done.
8) Practice
9) Get some drawing pencils of all different hardnesses. Mechanical pencils are cool for dbz, but not bowls of fruit.
10) Do not limit yourself to pencils. Charcoal is a wonderful drawing tool and you should definately learn to use it. Brush and ink is also a must, and a combination of the two also leads to good results.
11) The key to learning is experimentation. Don't pick a style and say ok this is how I am drawing period. Always always always try new things. Even sh!t that you don't think will work, try it.
12) Practice
13) Learn from others. Look at other peoples styles and try them out for yourself. Also get them to critique what you've done.
14) Tracing gets you nowhere.
and finally....
15) Practice, practice, practice. You never ever get to the point where you don't need practice.
