my friend just bought a new IBM 7200rpm HF and he wanted to transfer everything(Win98se, games, and so on) on his old HD to the new one without having to reinstall anything?? can you do this?? if so how??

he sure can.

option 1)
get a program like norton ghost and make an image, then move image to new drive

option 2)
theres lots of free programs out there (the one i used once is called 'file copy' ) that let you move every file from your primary drive to your new one set as slave, then you simply unplug the old drive, set the new one up as primary master, and you're off

let me know if you need help finding a link to 'filecopy'

Norton Ghost is about your best bet.

But if you want a challange use dos 'xcopy' but things won't quite be the same. 🙂

have fun

XCOPY will work.. just use the right switches. but it'll take a long long long long long time 😀
