Are there any web interfaces to SSL (for example you can use SSL when at a machine where you can't install software, a window's machine naturally).

I want to set an SSL server up on my home windows machine that will allow me to utilize Pine, Lynx, and whatever else I can think up that would be good to use this way. Reason is I've tried all the VNC's and they just plain suck with my upload (I'm limited to 128k upload) - and I swear it is acutally closer to 64k.

I've tried to install linux a million times and it always craps on the install. I've tried Fedora 1 & 2, Mandrake 10 official, Suse 9.1, Lindows, and they all just hang on install. Plus I already know windows and am an avid gamer.

Also does anyone know if anyone has ported Elinks to windows so I can use that instead of lynx?

Thanks !

I'm going to assume you mean ssh, not ssl. Anyway, you can use the cygwin sshd ssh server - I do, and it works fine :).

How hard is it to set up app's with it?

What all apps do you recommend?

Also, what about accessing it when you are away and can not install or run a program not already installed?

cygwin package management is graphical - it's VERY easy

I have a fast enough connection to use VNC, I only keep ssh around for emergencies. I generally don't use cygwin stuff.

You can do anything you could do locally, so long as it doesn't need a GUI (i.e. can't install the vast majority of windows apps, because they're graphical installers).

Windows isn't really an environment meant to work with the command line.
