OK, since you haven't listed your prices I'll just list some:

Slotket: MSI MS-6905 $9.70 @ Onvia after Pointclick 10%
RAM: Crucial PC133 CL2 ~$140 @ Crucial
CD-RW: Plex 12x10x32 $237 @ Onvia after 10%
VC: V5-5500 $238 @ Onvia after 10% (FSAA! :))
Gladiac $261 @ Onvia after 10%
HD: Maxtor 60GB $240 @ Compgeeks & other places (check Hot Deals)
$247 @ Onvia after 10%

Check http://techdeals.net/system/ for a cheap SB Live! deal they've posted. Check prices at http://shopper.com. Try to PM the Gladiac at Onvia w/Buy.com, that'll bring it to $237 after 10%.

Looking things over it seems like a nice rig but two components require further investigation. Perhaps you should ship me the GTS and G400FD for evaluation purposes. After spedning six months or so with the hardware I think I would be better qualified to offer firm conclusions:p ;)

Is this going to be your main rig Beast? Looks sweet:) One thing I would consider changing is the Winmodem, you can find hardware based PCI offerings now that also support call waiting, of course they are about $100 MSRP and if you are getting broad band anytime soon it would be a waste.

Get your orb from millisec.com it's cheaper there than anywhere else.

Get your burner at onvia and use the pointclick coupon 10%.

Create checking accounts at 3 different banks all giving you an debit card. Use the 3 to create 3 different accounts and onvia and use the $25 coupon 3 times.

Why not go for a maxtor 30gb. It will save you money and it has better performance.

X-gamer? you know the difference between x-gamer and value is the software only. Get a OEM live! value for $40 and use the x-gamer software.

SInce you're not overclocking your bus that high you might also want to consider getting cheaper ram. That expensive stuff is mostly for people that run their memory at 140+.

Get a Asus Cuv4x and you won't need to get a slocket.

<<What do you guys think of the components? >>

I like the rig and I have the enlight 7237 w/250. I loaded about everything you have into it including a 50x cd-rom and the power supply couldn't cut it.I had to remove stuff. Now I have all my toys spread across 7 networked computers.

I would recommend an Athlon appproved power supply, only because you never know what the future will bring, and it doesn't hurt to have the capability to use 300+ watts if you need to.IMHO ;)

The Sony G400 is way overpriced, so get a Samsung Syncmaster 900NF instead. Use the $120 you save to get more RAM!

TheBeast:
I recently (within a week or two) got these parts for my computer. You can compare with these to see if you are getting the best prices.

Component | Brand/Model | Price
----------------|-------------------------------|--------
Monitor | Samsung SyncMaster 955DF | $257.90
Sound Card | SB Live! X-Gamer (CT4760) | $ 54.21
Hard Drive | Maxtor 40GB DiamondMax Plus | $224.99
RAM | Kingston 128MB DIMM PC133 (2) | $251.99
Case & PS | Antec KS282+PP303X | $ 58.53
Mouse | MS Intellimouse Explorer | $ 42.53
Keyboard | MS Natural Keyboard Pro | $ 42.42
CD-RW | Plextor PlexWriter 12/10/32A | $210.86

I got everything besides the mouse and keyboard from Onvia. Use the $25 off $200 coupons and Pointclick's 10% off for jaw-dropping deals ($25 off + 10% off + free shipping = :D). The mouse and the keyboard are from Staples (price match + $20 coupon).

Quickfingerz:
All SB Live!'s are not equal. I got the X-Gamer for the specific reason that it is the CT4760 model. It has both digital in from the CD-ROM and a higher quality (more powerful, better) digital out. I am not sure about the OEM versions, but I know that the X-Gamer, MP3+, and Platinum are all CT4760 or better. There was a thread somewhere around here about this exact topic. (Btw I like your suggestion about the 3 CC's :).)

Thanks everybody for your comments.
Ben,
What's your address, the monitor and vid card are on there way;) Are you trying to start a little flame war with that hardware modem talk (Modus probably isn't watching this thread, though? Unfortunately I'm building this system for my soon-to-be brother-in-law, I don't get to keep it:(

Tripleshot,
What do you mean the PS couldn't take it? What exactly happened? I've got one for my rig, and I've got a P2, CDROM, CDRW, Zip, Floppy, HD, PS Fan, Case Fan, and a 2 fan peltier hooked up to it right now and it purs along. Maybe I'll have to think about a 300Watt PS.

Mosdef,
Yeah, I'm gonna try to get through onvia on pointclick, but its sporadic when onvia is available now, isn't it? Got any tips.

Ok first off, does Onvia even have that 10% off deal with Pointclick anymore??

As for the system, I looked on Pricewatch for each part and without shipping it came in at just under $2300 (*I tried to choose Dealers I thought looked good, but that might just be a shoot/miss*). I think it would be doubtful you would be paying $250 for shipping, but's I guess it's possible.

mosdef,

Could you elaborate on how the digital out on the SB Live X-Gamer/Mp3 is more powerful than the regular SB Live value, i.e. links to reviews, etc. As far as I know, the only differences are the lack of a CD digital in, the manual, the software, and the box.

Thanks
Al

Beast-

I'm not trying to start a flame war, haven't been around much and I'm honestly not sure what you are talking about???

For the hardware comments- I have a 33.6 full hardware ISA modem from a few years back that I keep around for a backup. In terms of gaming performance, it bests every 56K Winmodem that has passed through my system, on average by 50% lower ping times. I stick with the 56Ks because they are quite a bit faster for DLing, and I can always use my LAN for gaming;)

I assume by the specs that gaming will at least be part of this rigs diet, and I honestly think the price premium is worth it for a hardware based modem. Synthetic benchmarks won't show what happens when you walk into an open area in say Q3 and have ten players running around blasting off rockets, your CPU is bogged down, your ping times soar and you are fragged. Very annoying if you ask me. Too bad you don't get to keep this one, is your brother-in-law at least a decent guy? BTW- I assume that you shipped the items Fed Ex:p
