Can you disable Macrovision for a hollywood plus? Got it. Thanks guys.

Edit:
ZoneAlarm 4.1 is downloadable from here:

There's not documentation, and the official ZoneAlarm page seems dead....but it's a pretty straightforward program to use...

🙁

I spent half an hour this morning transplanting my computer the living room because my roommates are both out of town.

I was going to sit here eat chips, drink pop, watch DVDs and play Starcraft all day (it's -30 celcius outside ok, I ani't going anywhere).

Anyhow...now I have a problem, back home in Victoria my TV has a line in (Yellow/Red/White RCA inputs), so it's never been a problem before, but my Roommates's TV here doesn't have line ins 🙁 Only the VCR has line in, and the video singal is pretty mucked up....

So I imagine that it would be macrovision because that's what VCRs do right?

So does anyone have a fast and cheap (preferablly free) way to get around macrovision so I can use my roommates Stereo and TV 🙁:frown:

<< So I imagine that it would be macrovision because that's what VCRs do right? >>

Yep. However, I don't know of any free ways to disable it. About the only thing I know of that you could do is go to someplace like Radio Shack and buy a video stabilizer. It's really a Macrovision scrubber, but they can sell them since they have legitimate uses, like in your case.

That could work I suppose.

There is a radio shack not to far away from here....

It's pretty damn cold outside but that would only take about 20 mintues or so....

Do you know how much one might cost?

I saw that one in a different thread...(I searched before I posted this) and when you go to the download area is asks for your User Name and Registraction code 🙁

I could probably buy it....but I don't know how long it would take for them to send me the Reg Code and I kind of need something fast, the roommates come back tommorow...:frown:

They have 2 versions posted, one for regeistered and one for not. D/L 1.74, it should work fine. If not, let me know, I got a copy somewhere from a while back that doesn't require registration.

<< Remote Selector V1.74 (this version does not support the latest Dxr3 and Hollywood+ software, the region tab will be grayed out). >>

Doesn't seem to work...I downloaded it and no go...

I run it, go to the Video tab and select the Disabled radio button in the Macrovision box

Fireup DVD Station and I still have mucked up video 🙁

I emailed you two slightly older versions. I know they worked with my DXR3. Considering they are basically the same card, I don't know why it wouldn't work with your card.

thanks but still nothing 🙁 I wonder if there is something wrong with my video cable or S-Video/RCA adapter....

:frown:

no, you shouldn't have to reboot. Make sure you have the correct card selected and that you launch the player from within remoteselector.
