I ask, as I would like to see what kind of difference HT really has an appreciable effect on my next system I plan on putting together. I think I'm going to get the ABIT IC7 & a P4c 2.4Ghz CPU with HT & 800Mhz; and 512 or 1Gb ram.

I really use my PC now for:

1. Internet
2. On-line Video and File sharing
3. Digital Audio/MP3 editing creating/Burning CD?s
4. Editing Pictures
5. Gaming.

But what COMMON, current apps that I would use daily where I would notice a difference with HT being turned on to make them go faster?

Anyone with any thoughts on this? Thanks

yes, it's in the bios.... bah, 3rd or fourth one down... and should be at the top or the second from the top under that header.

It's not in pci, it's not in the first or second from the top either... try the others... can't remember exactly which one... but it's definitely in the bios.

multitasking different kind of apps. HT basically uses idle part of the proc that another prog in the que would use, thus minimizing waste.

so depending on what part of the proc your daily apps use, while in multi app mode, you may or may not see the benefit, but it's there, and what can you gain by turning it off? i wish i would've waited another month before buying my xp2100+ just so i could've gotten in on the p4 2.4c proc.. but still like the cheaper solution that i went with for now...^ ^
