Can you dial up to a laptop that will answer, and then control it? Software?

So, my boss came over and asked me this today. He is buying a summer place in another state, and wants to keep a laptop up there. He was asking if there was any software which he could install on it that would answer an incoming call, and then let you control that computer through a dialup connection?

not sure about the dialing into it part, maybe use ms built in software to make a dial up server and then have vnc running on it to take control of it? itll be SLLLOOOOOWWW though.

Maybe run MS's dial up server and maybe install terminal services on it?

Remote controlling a PC via a 56K line (more like 33.6Kbps), is NOT a good idea. Tell him to get broadband at the place and then you can do something.

I used to do with this win2k server using the built-in terminal server and RAS @ 28.8 dialup (note you wont get 56k connections because your server has an extra analog loop). It worked amazingly well at 28.8. I also tried VNC and it was totally unacceptable so don't use that.

which VNC are you guys talking about? i refered to ultraVNC which seems to be MUCH faster than real/tight/win VNC because of the video hook driver compression. but, thats only in my experience, your mileage will vary.
