Can You Connect A Firewall/Router to T1?

wow that is a broad question. depends on the firewall/router. it will need to have a CSU/DSU. it will probably depend on the ISP as well. i know some use and manage their own routers for T1 lines.

I know about the CSU/DSU. I just want to know if the CSU/DSU has an ethernet port to connect to the firewall. The reason I'm asking this is because the router says "Cable/DSL". Shouldn't it work with CSU/DSU.

it depends on the demark. If the demark is fiber/T1, then you need a router with a T1 WIC in it. If they provide ethernet, then that would work fine.

Call your ISP and talk to their techs. Tell them what you have and see what they say.

It looks like you have an ethernet interface on your firewall router ("Cable/DSL").

first of al, I would not recommend using a low end cable/dsl firewall to protect your T1...that's just my recommendation.

that said, I would guess yes.

Because most likely, they will tell you to get a cisco 1700 series router with 1 ethernet port and 1 WIC card. From the router's ethernet interface, you can plug into your firewall's ethernet port or directly into a switch port. So yes, it will work. But again, I would not recommend using a cheap cable/dsl firewall for your T1.

I would go with at least something like a checkpoint vpn edge firewall appliance. the low end is under $500.
