Like the subject says... I record stuff like tv shows or movies..but the AVI files are simply too big. Is there a way I could compress that huge file into something small enough to fit a cd?

Also, to those that own a Hauppauge WinTV and records full movies.. what settings do you use? By the way.. that manual that comes with the card (the PDF one) is beyond awful. thanks in advance..

WinTV defaults to uncompressed video and PCM audio at 44Khz. You can change the video and audio formats used for recording within WinTV. Look for "setup motion capture" under that you'll see several 'video compresion" selections, try out each of them and see which one you can live with; you will loose quite a bit of detail with some of them, but create very small files (under 1MB per second).
