Can you buy the Digital Rebel without any lenses?

You can, but why would you want to? The lens adds what, ~$100 to the cost of the kit? It's a very good deal for that price.

I guess if you want it so bad you can't stand to wait and save another 100$? lol...

How well does the kit lens that it comes with do macros?

If you've already got a stable of decent lenses with compatible mounts, no need to get the fairly low-end lens that comes with the kit.

I'm in the same boat. I want get a Pentax *ist D when it gets a little cheaper, but I won't need a lens unless it's somehow better than the ones I have (i.e. an 80-200mm zoom with a wider aperture or autofocus). The lenses I've been using with my ZX-50 for the last 8 years will work just fine.

Maybe I'm just a greedy mofo, but I'd still rather have it just to have it. It's not a bad little lens, and if something happened to it it's not worth crying over.

I have 2 decent Canon lenses already. I wouldn't buy the kit personally either. You get a $100 lens for an extra $100. Big deal there.

The lens that comes with the Rebel isn't supposed to be very good. You'd be better off putting that $100 towards a better lens.

the lens is pretty crappy, someone would be better off takeing the 100$ and putting it twards a USM lens

I second B&H or Adorama, both are very nice reputable dealers, and if your ever in NY go to the B&H store its amazing

Yeah, I like Adorama and B&H Photo, too. Only problem is that both of those camera stores are owned by Orthodox Jews, which means that they're always closed on Friday evening and Saturday.

Besides, if I was going to get one of the cheaper digital SLR's right now, I'd get a Nikon D70. It's only slightly more expensive than the Rebel, and has a much better feature set.

Well, my roomate wants one, and he has a Canon Rebel (the film version.)
