Do you mean 1000 dollars? Are you using American money? Are you genuinely going to build this machine or is it just to see who can get closest to that mark?

Also, does that include shipping?

That's not a $10,000 system.

My dual 1800+ system isn't a $10,000 system, & it would kick that system's ass.

Do you mean $1,000?

So when does this "contest" end? And I assume you're the judge of the winner but what promise do entrants have that you'll be fair in this decision?

I dont know what there would be 10,000 dollars unless you mean MUCH better.

Maybe your talking about canadian dollars? In that case a system like that would not be possible. $1 US dollars = $123.38 canadian dollars.

I'm just kiddin.

It looks like he wants a video editing system and while a system like that with excellent performance and all the extras... tape deck/speaker/receiver/etc will cost upwards of 15k.. Just the system surely won't.

Yeah, do your have Firewire, Professional Video Editing software, DVD Burner, 60 gig SCSDI Hard Drive etc ? Because if you don't then your system wouldn't kick his systems ass for sh!t, especially if he had Dual P4 Xeons.

<< I can build it and charge you $9,999. Then you'll give me the $10, and I'll make a freaking huge profit. >>

You will? Is this another one of those intelligent posts of yours that other guy was talking about?

I could easily add a RAID0+1 array using the 64-bit PCI slots on my Tiger MP, quadruple my RAM to 2 GB, add firewire support, drop two 17" LCD's on my Matrox G450, and STILL keep it under $10,000.

Adobe Premier is $600.

The only thing I don't know for sure on is the camera/svhs decks.

Anybody have prices on those?

and like i said you would still have to get alot of the video editing stuff, but you could take out the scsi drives and card, since that WD special editon drive is good enough especially in raid :0

This is why he has the 10K number. But then again, most of you did not take the 5.43seconds to read and interpret his post.

And they are already replacing the SCSI Drives with a new and unproven IDE Drive (who's to say it won't turn out like the IBM GXP Drives?)

next thread coming up: can you build be a budget system for 100k?

you can get all that for less than 5k easy, without even trying to save money.
