Our company uses HipChat (basically mIRC, you oldies). The company is facking huge - you know it.

There's a HipChat room for our 30-member team. One girl (call her Lisa) was kissing ass to her boss (Mark) and wrote:

Lisa: Mark is the Shepherd (smily emoji). #mountain goat# no big deal (laugh emjo)"
Mark:HA-HA! We have to talk! (high five emoji)
Lisa: (Embeds a picture of Jesus Christ shepherding sheep, with 1 over his shoulders)
Lisa: (tongue out emoji)
Someone else: Ummm that might be an HR "no-no"

Am I retarded I think this is a big deal (not to me), or is she retarded?

it's not a big deal until someone makes it a big deal. IOW, probably not the wisest move.

I don't see a problem with it at all, but I'm not someone who's triggered by practically anything.

I called the boss a fuckin' dumbass today, and said he was probably related to the retarded draftsman. You can tell they share the same defective genes.

Pretty sure just about anything goes here, but we don't use emojis :^D

People like to make a big deal of the stupidest thing, so because of that, it probably could get you fired. Just takes one person to blow it out of proportion and go to HR. Next thing you know that person is in the news for sexual assault allegations. Anything remotely flirty, or sexual etc should never be said in a work place especially to the opposite sex. Me personally, I don't really care.

I stopped reading at HipChat. Slack is far superior. Just be careful with /giphy and your rating settings

A. Was anyone fired?

B. Did anyone actually complain to HR?

Sounds like someone was just tossing out a warning: "Uh, you might not want to do that."

I wouldn't worry about it. She might give him a BJ for a pay increase and about a year latter she'll scream sexual harassment. What my dad often says, "what comes around goes around.

I don't see a problem, but I work in an at-will state so I could be fired for just about anything, like eyeballin' somebody the wrong way.
