You don't take your car to the dealer for EVERY recommended service. You know how the dealer got these ridiculous 4500 miles, 7500 miles and such? And they want to charge crazy money for what seems to be nothing really done to the car, except for an oil change?

What if you only take your car in for major recommended services (when it's actually make sense), can they deny you of warranty service? Some professional opinions please, factual info welcome.

Not AFAIK, as long as the service was perfomed properly.

Edit: Do you mean not do the minor services at all, or have somebody else do it?

What he said - as in total neglect of service, or just having someone else do it/doing it yourself? I think it really depends on what the warranty claim is, but in most cases it seems ridiculous that they'd try to deny it.

No, if you maintain your car like your owner's manual specifies, and keep all your records, receipts, etc...they can't deny you any warranty repairs.
Well, they can, but all it would take is a call from you to the manufacturer to fix that.
BTW, I worked in one of the largest car dealerships in the country for 15+ years in service, so I know.
Then again, our oil changes were cheaper than Jiffy Lube, so unless they are one of those dealers that add all kinds of aftermarket crap to their basic services, you're nearly always better off going to the dealer for service.

Oh, and if you decide to do the service yourself, you'd better keep meticulous records, notes, etc.

What I meant is that instead of paying the dealer 60 bucks just for an oil change + "functional test of headlights, brakes,....etc" you get my point, have some one else change the oil for you for $20 (certified of course)

What dealer charges that much? Do you have a Mercedes or a Lexus?
Lots of dealers have "deluxe" or "best" oil changes, but they usually have a plain old oil change, and usually at competitive prices, too.

Put it like this: If there is something going wrong with your car, or needing attention soon, the dealer is more likely to catch it than a lube shop with high school kids working there.
