Can you backup the Win2k Installation CD just like a regular cd?

I know this borders on piracy, but it for my father! It's not like I'm making hundreds of copies and selling them to people. It's no worse than using the same Win2k cd for your two computers. I am gonna make a copy for him (he has WinME, and doesn't like it). If I copy the cd in EZ CD Creater 4, will the copy be just like/as good as the original (ie - it won't be missing anything or any important files)?

be careful of what you're asking on a public forum, as I can see someone reporting you for piracy!

heh next time say you are making a "backup" of the CD and you'll get quick answers.

I'd recommend trying CloneCD to make perfect 1-1 copies of the CDs. Most CDs have copy protection that EZ CD creator can't bypass so your only real option is to either crack it or use CloneCD.

Do a search on CloneCD and you should be able to download a trial version.

Strange that you would ask as sensitive question here! For the life of me, I can't understand why don't you just try it or are you worried about wasting a $0.50 CDR?

Now I'm not condoning your action, but it would seem that you have asked a question without really thinking if you should ask!

;)

EZCD makes perfect backups of Windows 2000 Professional OEM. Can't say about Retail.

I thought you needed to manually setup the boot record in cdrwin to make it a bootable copy.

<<I just copied it, but I don't wanna give it to him if it ain't gonna work >>

if you've already copied it, just toss in the cd-rom drive, reboot, and see if it launches the install program.

you can get out of the process before it overwrites your current os.

and please don't tell us about your "father" regardless of whether it's true. <<It's no worse than using the same Win2k cd for your two computers. >> that would be illegal too . . . pretend you're in the military, "Don't ask, Don't tell"
