Can you add a check box in excel?

using.. excel 2000, is there a way to add a check box that you could just click on. Basically i need a check or uncheck next to each line, and then i'll tally the number of checks at the bottom. I realize that I could use 0's and 1's and just get a sum, but this excel file isn't for me.
