Can you actually parallel park correctly?

In downtown, I see a bunch of drivers turn straight onto the sidewalk, and then turn left and off it, so they parallel park really close to the curb...

So the question is...

Can you parallel park the "correct" way?

absolutely,
any car any size. I've parked into spots that had 6 inches on either side of the car.

lived in downtown atlanta for a bit....once i actually took a picture i was so close to the 2 other cars...it was like perfect. loved watching people try though...some would try like 5x then just give up

No, I hate parallel parking. I am willing to park a half mile away and walk to avoid the embarrassment of having to do it.

Where I live, it is a matter of necessity. Parking spots are quite rare and if you do find one it is usually very very tiny, just a bit longer than your car - You got to get in there

If you can't parallel park, you're not a man. I read it in a study.

So those two men that I saw drive their SUV over the curb onto the sidewalk and then back down weren't? 😕...

maybe it's cause it's Chinatown...

I've parked in far tighter...like, 2" front, 4" rear. Granted, I can't do that without touching the bumpers of the cars in front of and behind me.

eventually.

it usually takes me 2-3 tries, though, so I won't parallel park if there's no one around. and on 1-way streets where I'd be blocking traffic as I attempt to parallel park, I won't even try it unless there's a rediculous amount of space.

I can...but I'm not all that good at it.

If there's enough room I can do it... but tight spots there's just no way. lol

Admittedly I've never realy had to, the towns I've lived in always had pleanty of parking available. So, so far, I consider myself lucky. 🙂
