Can you actually get a Gainward 4600 Ultra/750XP right now? (money burning a hole in my pocket)

I have only seen a few places that offer the top end Gainward card and none of them seem to have them in stock.

Does anyone have one of these yet and does anyone know where I can order one that is in stock?

Try here. Spendy, but I'd call the order in to ensure their availability. I was able to hit the Buy button and add it to my cart. You may have a chance.

BTW, most of the Ti4600s are based on the nVidia reference design, although I like Gainward's package better than all others. Plus, they're touted to have the best/some of the best 2D quality in the nVidia line-up. (Based on opinions I read, I have no experience with this or any GF4 card.)

Good luck and enjoy!

Personally Gainward's GF4 Ti4600 card doesnt impress me as much as some of their past cards have.
VisionTek and LeadTek can match them for features, and Gainward's Ti4600 seems to fare worse in overclocking then LeadTek's card as well.
If you can put up with the somewhat noisy dual fan cooling solution on the LeadTek model I tend to prefer it over any other Ti4600.
And if LeadTek's cooling is too loud for your tastes then VisionTek's card seems to overclock only slightly worse then Gainward's model.
Given that VisionTek's tech support and RMA practices are significantly better then Gainward's and VisionTek's cards have a slightly better reputation in respect to quality of manufacture and 2D visual quality their a better buy then Gainward's model.
For once I don't see that Gainward's model truly stands out from the crowd too much.

Well, I ordered the MSI 4600 card for $355 ($387 second day air NY to CA)

Frankly, it came down to price and availability - and the silver HSF matches my Al case. Also, the MSI has a nice software bundle and the VIVO feature.

Hopefully the 2D will not suck as some people have postulated...

I suppose the included PCI firewire card is a nice "freebie". I truly think you should save the ~100.00 price difference and go with a Ti4400 instead. My LeadTek Ti4400 o/c's to Ti4600 speeds no problem. The 2D quality is much better than the MSI GF3 TI200 I had in here. No more "wavy" lines moving on my monitor on occasion either. I am sure it had something to do with the Ti200 low pass filters.

Well, I really wanted a TI4600 - I deliberated, but I always buy "one notch down" but in this case, I am a serious gamer so I thought the little extra speed was worth it.

As for the IQ that everyone refers to, I run 11x8 or 10x7 most of the time. I might try higher for gaming, but for working, the mid ranges are all I need.

I think $355 is a pretty good price for what I got.

I think so many people get really caught up in various specs too much - the 4600 is at best, 10% faster than a 4400, and among the 4600s, there is maybe a 2% variation - if you stress about that then you are kind of pathetic.

As a serious gamer, I try to get the best equipment I can, but 2 months ago, I was using an Athlon 650 and a GF2 and I was doing well against people with 2-3X the system power. Now I have a nice XP1800+ system and this card will round it out and make it pretty awsome.

I think the dual BIOS in the MSI is kind of a cool idea - the GF4 cards are really new and you may want to update the BIOS later on - if you b0rk it, then you are going to be down for a while, but the MSI can repair a failed flash attempt.

Plus I want to put some baby videos on the PC in MPeg2....

Match? VIVO, Dual DVI, firewire (won't count this), and 3D Glasses (won't count that either)... I don't see how you can say they match Gainward?! Also from reviews, I don't see where the Gainward has OCed worse than the LeadTek.

I'm not saying there are anything wrong with those cards, but I don't agree with your above statements...
