Can WinXPhome edition join a Domain Controller?

I tried to join my laptop to a Win2003 Server, but I don't have that option > Any help will be appreciated.

i dont think home edition can join a domain. most people dont have domains at "home"

i do tho, thats why id never use home

That article is misleading. An XP Home machine cannot be a member of a domain, period. This means it won't receive domain group policies, scripts, published applications, etc. It can, however, access resources on a domain by mapping drives and providing a correct username and password.

try using DOMAIN/username and password when prompted (for access).

With proper user names and passwords, you can access network folders, but you need to enter these everytime you want to access something. You cannot join a domain with Home by design.

Actually it's domain\username; but you've got the general idea.

You can typically store the credentials used to access network resources so you woulnt neccisarily have to enter them "every" time you want to get at something.
