Can WinXp read 3 sound cards?

I currently have two and they work great. I have a usb headset that uses it's own sound card of sorts, so would plugging it in intefere with the other 2 or will it read 3 with no problems? For some reason I'm thinking WinXP is good for only 2 soundcards.

I think I just figured it out. If I turn off both cards then the usb headset should not interfere with the others. Makes sense to me so I'm going to give it a go!

Never used 3 but I have used two, SB Audigy ZS + Bluetooth Headset. You need applications that will allow you to setup the preferred device(audio out stream) seperate from the standard windows control (Winamp, Teamspeak for sure, some games). As long as it is a static device and windows doesnt reset your sound options every once in a while it should work fine. I finally gave up on my setup, everytime my bluetooth started acting up it would drop the stream and require the device to be repeered, and possibly reset my prefered device in my control panel to bluetooth.

It is my opinion that windows isn't ready for multiple sound cards. I'd love to be able to just turn my bluetooth headset on for a moment without having to worry about screwing my other settings, or if the headset looses connection for a moment I can easily recover instead of having no sound until I reconnect and restart all applications using the device. Also a lot of applications arn't aware of multiple sound cards and only look for the preferred device.

I use a Logitech USB headset (the PS2 ones) plus a Soundblaster Live 24bit sound card. I use the headset for Teamspeak and the Soundblaster as my primary device. Like the previous poster said, you need to use programs that allow you to choose which sound device to use. I am able to set up Teamspeak on my headset, and use Winamp + Games on my soundblaster. It works great.

I already had two soundcards working no problem. That was easy, just had a question about adding the headset and I figured it out lastnight and all works well. 🙂

Thanks for the replies though!
