What title says. Ive been sitting here for 4 hours now try to get VPN to work from friends XP machine to my Win7 system but it will not connect. It just times out with Error 721 (No Response). I setup the VPN incoming connection on my box, forwarded port 1723 to my PC and opened port 1723 in my firewall as well as GR Protocol 47 which Microsoft says needs to be opened as well.

I assume XP VPN Client just cant talk to Win7 VPN Server to make Microsoft more money?

XP can talk to 7's VPN just fine.

Error 721 means that GRE (IP Protocol 47) is getting dropped somewhere. Check to make sure that Windows 7's firewall allows 1723/TCP and 47/IP in, and assuming that both PCs are behind a NAT, that PPTP passthrough is enabled and working on the NAT device.
