Can Windows Media Player 6.4 play .vob files ripped from DVD?

Chances are yes, you can. I think .vob files are identical to the data found on the DVd itself. So its just like playing a DVD...i THINK. But why would you want that much data on your hd when you can just encode it? See the OS forum for more and better detailed help.

Not if it's a straight copy, which is encrypted.

By itself, WMP 6.4 does not have an MPEG2 DirectShow filter. You would also need to decrypt a straight copy before it can be played on any version of WMP.
