Can Windows make 180W Enough?

Is a MicroATX 180Watt Power Supply enough to run:

ABIT BD7M Motherboard
2x 256MB Samsung PC2700
P4 1.8A GHz
ATI AIW Radeon 8500DV
80GB IBM GXP120 HDD
16x Pioneer DVD
SoundBlaster Live!
NIC
Zip 100

And a few USB Devices sometimes?

Is there any settings in windows that will let me squeak by?

I'd give it a go. 180-watts is fairly standard for MicroATX systems. Your lineup looks pretty standard to me except for the vid card which is the only possible problem I see.

The P4 doesn't have the goofy power requirements of Athlons.

People seem to forget that many years ago it was very common for us to have 4 or more hard drives in one system when 200meggers were the biggest around. Those old drives sucked alot more juice than the ones today. A common powersupply in those days was 150 watts or smaller.

And no, there is nothing in windows that you can change that would affect this.

i don't think you will find a 180w psu that is ATX 2.0 compliant .. You will be severely pushing it on 180w, intel or not .. just my thoughts ..

Yeah, I think that power supply would be okay running a sub 1ghz Intel with a basic obboard graphics card but not a P4 1.8ghz + Radeon 8500.

It's not gonna work. I bet you can't even get enough juice out of it to get it booted. That is a big draw itself. If by some miracle it boots, it will crash harder than any computer made by HotChic and Baffled2's kid.

All specualtation aside the only real way to know is to hook it up and find out...I myself would give it a 70/30 chance of working reliably. Good Luck!

give it a go, as long as it is ATX compliant, you won't do damage to your mobo, but I really doubt it is enough power to run that stuff, and you will probably be plagued by reandom reboots and lockups.
