I don't know if I've asked here before... but I am getting really annoyed at how my icons all look weird when I connect to XP Remote Desktop. I believe this is due to the fact that RD only shows up to 24-bit color. Is there a way to make it show 32-bit?

If not, what is the BEST remote software out there. I don't like VNC because it is not as fast as RD... Other software requires a lot of stuff to be installed at the client end... which is a hassle when I'm moving from place to place...

Thanks for the help!

I did try pcAnywhere.. it was terrible... slow and requires a really bloated software on both host and client

There is no such thing as 32bit RGB color. What windows tells you is 32bit color is actually 24bit color (8 bits per channel, on each of the R, G, and B channels). There is a 32 bit color format called RGBA, which also includes an 8-bit alpha channel, but it's not used (not even possible to use) on a computer monitor.

What you're seeing is probably either 15 bit color (Windows says it's 16 bit) or 8 bit color on Remote Desktop.

Try it out.

Do you have a link to this? The one that I have which comes from WinXP only allows color depths up to 24-bit... but even then, my icons look really weird... I don't know why
