Spyd. What was your avg login on that laptop you mention
I've run Win 2k on a p 133 w/ 40MB of RAM
I'm assuming you're talking to me? It wasnt a laptop, it was an old IBM desktop system that we used as a crashbox. We rarely rebooted (always just left it logged in and running) but I'd wager it took somewhere in the neiboorhood of 5-8min. to get you to the login screen and another 5 to log in and finish loading.Spyd. I know for sure that SP2 and earlier will actually allow you to install it on a machine with 32MB of RAM. I'm not sure about SP3 and later...I believe it will run on 48MB but will not install on a machine with 48MB RAM.
Agreed, or better yet get him a new computer.Get this friend of yours an early birthday present. Buy him some RAM.
Actually now that I think about it I tried to do a Win 2K SP4 install on an old P100 laptop w/ 32MB of RAM in hopes that it would make an okay video switcher controller. I ended up giving up on it when I stared the install one day and let it sit than came back the next and it still hadnt finished...I know for sure that SP2 and earlier will actually allow you to install it on a machine with 32MB of RAM.
