I LOVE me some dry roasted peanuts. The heavily salted kind. But the spice they put on them makes the taste. What are your favorite brands? Planters is the best I've had so far, save one brand they had a Wal-Mart for years, before I finally tried it, and LOVED it, but then the next week they stopped carrying it lol. I hope I find it or something like it one day!

So what are your favorite brands? C'mon, name them!

Don't really snack on peanuts, but I use them as ingredients for my desserts like this Reese's PB Cups Cheesecake. :awe:

The crust is made with Oreos and 1/2 cup Planters dry roasted peanuts.

Every once in awhile, I bake Peanut Butter Cookies. I use a whole jar of Planters honey roasted peanuts.

All nut meats are good.

We all have our favorites.

But at the end of the day, nut meats are a gift from the gods.

I like me some peanuts. The Planters dry roasted are the best. I also like to eat them from the shell, roasted and salted. I just hate the way the red things get all over my teeth.

Roasted. Spanish. Peanuts. Available in creamy or chunky. This stuff is more sticky than molasses. Waaaaaay better than any other natural PB I've ever had.

Dry roasted Planters family size tub from Sam's Club is household favorite snack. Goes good with about anything.

I've spent the last years testing various brands for my own research purposes, and for whatever reason, I can't do Planters anymore. They were all I remember growing up, but I find various supermarket brands are superior.

Recently, these are what I have tested (basically the name of the Supermarket):

Lucky
Trader Joe's
Safeway
Archer Farms (target)
Aldi (forget what these are called)
Giant
Shoppers

I think I am forgetting a few.

By far, Lucky's brand have been my favorite, but the rest of that grocery store is pretty terrible. I would only go there for their dry roasted peanuts or lazy convenience.

Trader's Joes and Archer Farms were the worst that I recall. My new local brands are Giant, Shoppers, and Aldi. I prefer Giant, but Aldi are good enough that their cheapness makes them a great choice.

I've always been disappointed that Costco never seems to have had Kirkland dry roasted peanuts. Very strange.

Heh. We just got a Lucky's. Can't beat their $5 pint of beer and two slices of pizza deal for cheap dinner. Their crab cakes and salads (curry chicken salad FTW) are good too.

If you got a new one, then it is probably fairly decent. I find that it does depend on the neighborhood where you find it.

Surprised you have one way out here--I thought they were primarily West Coast?

anything a peanut can do, an almond can do better

Interesting you mention this. For a friend's party recently, I made a few batches of boozy truffles. One in particular was semi-sweet chocolate with a tablespoon or so of Kahlua mixed in. I rolled 'em in chopped almonds after raiding hubby's shelf of snacks (I hadn't ever used almonds before) and they were pretty killer. :awe:
