They recognize this is a wedge issue that gets their base excited. It took Biden floating the idea before Obama decided to "evolve". This is a complete wedge issue both sides play to distract us from what they are really doing.

By enacting legislation that keeps them in the underculture of our society.

I could keep going. And it's worth noting that I tried to mainly say things that are starkly opposite of Republican positions.
You really didnt differentiate the two parties in the above except for the gay marriage issue. Which is just an issue to motivate the base to come out to the ballot box.
And at the very least if you look at the thread this is in mirror to, the Democrats in there weren't giant dicks unlike the Republicans in here.
