Can we please make an effort to say if something isn't work safe?

I know everyone here doesn't work.. but it would really be helpful if people would do this. There are many instances where the thread, post, and filename doesn't indicate some nearly naked chick or chopped up body or something..

I do the same as well. If I'm unsure and there are not enough responses to make sure it is safe, I either bookmark it or pass. If I don't get to see it, whatever it was probably wasn't all that important anyway.

Heh, most workplaces frown on surfing the internet, especially "Off Topic" forums. So I ask you, is anything really "work safe"?

;)

I wanna see what pissed you off.

I'm the net admin here, so I decide what's safe, and what's not ;)

F that, if all these people are gonna take 10 minute breaks to go smoke and litter out front then god dammit I get to take a break to go bullsh*t on the internet for a few minutes.

Word up!

This forum is super tame by comparison to many others.

Stop whining about worksafe content. An offtopic BBS has nothing to do with work.

Or, how about members show a bit of courtesy to other members and take <5 seconds to say if something's not work safe? Do you really think that's asking someone to "change the forum"?

se7enty7, that is a good point. Not just the gross or pornographic stuff, but also things that generate loud noise or possibly crash a computer in production. I got caugh off guard by that "You Are an Idiot!" flash thing and had to quickly hard shutdown my machine - luckily I wasn't working on anything that wasn't already saved.

And it's not just about being work safe. What if the person IS at home, but they have a young child nearby and the last thing they need to do is have him/her accidentally see the guy with his brains smashed across the road.

I started a new thread with a request - a simple Not Work-Safe Icon would be helpful for threads that are borderline lockable. If a MOD doesn't think it should be locked but wants viewers to be warned, they can even change the icon themselves.

The majority agrees with me, so your point is meaningless. This is off topic, few things here would be considered "work safe" by the OP probably. I think the majority of the users here would agree that saying NWS or having a red icon in front of the posts will be annoying for most users. If people are worried about getting caught by their bosses on the internet, then that's their problem. Instead of trying to change the forum to suit their needs, people should post on potentially questionable threads and ask if the link is NWS.

i didn't know things that were "NSFW" were allowed to be posted here? Most everything gets locked or deleted. If you think it's bad here, visit some of the motorcycle messageboards i goto. Most everybody has the decency to post "NWS" or "NSFW" on my boards, but some of the boards are considered "NWS" to begin with. Dude...plain and simple, you don't like what you see, get back to work and stay off the boards.

give me a freaking break. Why would anyone be viewing possibly objectionable material such as that with their children nearby or in an office where they know they are not supposed to....

and a free public service announcement...read the replies on a thread before clicking a link. If you see "WTF??!!!???!!?" or "sick!!" or "you fvcker...i just got fired for looking at that!", you probably don't want to click that link while working (or whatever you're SUPPOSED to be doing).

Why don't you guys just tell your bosses you're browsing ATOT instead of working, and that they should expect some inappropriate material every now and then? Wouldn't that be easier?

Ogg had a valid point. Just because it's different from your opinion, it does not mean he should be flamed. I'm afraid you're the one who needs to grow up. Oh, and get back to work
