you can put 6800ultra bios on it but it will never be a Ultra no matter what you do to it

I was under the impression that Ultra cores were the same as GT but with Faster Memory (1.6ns) and higher voltages (1.4v), with maybe a better tolerence for higher mhz. I think that Ultras are just the cream of the GT crop as it were.

I flashed my bfg 6800gt with a 1.4V bios. Had all kinds of hard crash probs. Reverted to old bios and am running at 411/1100 np so far. You dont need to up voltage and i think it causes power problems because GTs only have one power connector

Really? my Gt's past ultra extreme levels 450/1200...for months... makes ultra look slow.

ifestor, do not do flash to ultra right away.

Your card is not designed to run at those speeds. It has probably a lamer cooler than ultra.

First you want to make sure your card can run w/o issue at ultra speeds.

Download coolbits and overclcok to 400/1100. Keeping an eye on temps. If card ever goes above 80C with heavy gaming then no good. If card shows atrifacts, then no good. If all is cool and stable then why not? It saves you from screwing around with nvidia control panel, and saves you from reactivating and installing coolbits everytime you update drivers.:)

Plus it gives you .1 more volts and you can start process above all over and even get an ultra extreme bios later.:)

This is the exception to the rule, and you know it :p

I too have been running my dual molex GT (/snicker) at 460/600 for quite some time now, but it's hardly a commonality. Don't misrepresent such things to people who might actually take you seriously in believing this is a common occurence :p

I was only suggesting to ifestor 400/1100..not all that crazy..quite common. No way would I tell someone to OC to our levels.:D

But looking back at post, I can see it could be confusing.
