Can we finally give Intel some kudos?

I must preface this by saying that I'm not a fanboy. I use computers, I'm not really obsessive about them and am quite happy with my AMD X2 dell rig (and also appreciate Macs but couldn't afford one that would meet my needs). I just casually keep up with the tech news and think Intel has finally gotten it's act together and am quite impressed, as a consumer. I'm especially impressed with how much information they put out there about future products (including their jump to 45nm) - Intel used to post so much marketing hype and falsely praise buzz wordy "features" that turn out to be gimmicks, now they seem to get accurate information out about their future products and are releasing them quickly, without resting on their accomplishments. They went from Core 2 Duo to Core 2 Quad quickly and continue to churn out chips, while not really much is known about K8L and the future of the AMD line.

Like Hyundai, I appreciate it when a company gets their act together and starts releasing quality products, instead of relying on market dominance and gimmicks.... Wish other companies would take their lead!

Hey, this is off topic, but this looks like an ON TOPIC type discussion. I thought geeks came here to take a break from such discussion.

They are not that expensive.
The start price is higher than AMD, but Intel pushed VERY hard in terms of price, what you get from an E4300 is very very nice, and once they drop in price soon, it'll be even nicer.

Yep, Core2Duo has been a great hit. I finally built my first Intel box since my 600mhz Athlon (600mhz, 900mhz, 1300mhz, 1600XP, 2x2500XP, A64 3500).

But i'm still rooting for AMD though (because competition is always good).

😕 Not really.

You cannot compare prices when AMD have an inferior product line.

That?s like saying Hyundai cars are better than the equivalent BMW because they cost less.

From a computer enthusiast perspective, yes, I agree. But it was just released yesterday that AMD still gained marketshare against INTC in the PC and notebook segment in Q4. AMD lost a little bit of market share in the server segment. Both of them are killing thier own profits with the low profit margins.

Lastly, the average consumer doesn't care if their chip is 45nm or 65nm.

"Can we finally give Intel some kudos?"

Absolutely not! If you've missed out on the past few months (and I think you have), we have been acknowledging that intel has a great product from the very day the new line was released.
