Can VLC do 7.1 True HD Atmos audio??

Every 4k movie I try to watch on VLC gets picture fine but the audio either cuts in and out or can't be heard at all. Is there any kind of player or codec that can fix this issue??

I think only the new 3.0 can, but, that is still in beta.
MPC-HC (https://mpc-hc.org/) & Mplayer can handle it from the sample ATMOS file I have (MKV H.264 1080pDolby TrueHD 7.1 ATMOS).
