Hi guys, i want to buy my very first video card with vivo feature so that i can record clips from VCR tapes. I assume that recording motion picture is no problem since it's vi-video in, but what about the sound? Has any one anything similar to this plz help me out. thank you so much.
BTW, i'm looking at that Leaktek winfast ti-4200 128meg ddr ViVo. 🙂

In most cases the VIVO cards are only designed to capture video and the audio goes in through the line-in jack in your sound card. This works pretty well in most cases. An exception to this rule is ATI's All-in-Wonder series of cards which can take audio in as well and transfer it to the sound card internally via the CD-ROM in on the sound card. It's a pretty cool setup and makes things simple. Both ways can work though.

ah i see, thanks a bunch 🙂
so the software that will come with the video card will record simultaneously both video from the video in and sound from the line-in jack? if that is so, it's fantastic! 🙂

Its a problem if they're commercialy pre-recorded tapes with macrovision protection.
