Can viruses exist in .PDF files?

I've heard of one a while back, did adobe patch their programs?

Yes, .pdf files are infectable. I have no idea if Adobe made a patch or not.

anyone can change the extension of their files to .pdf so it's not the fault of adobe if some idiot (that's where --- step in) happens to download something he/she/it's not supposed to.

Hmm... So if PDF files are infectable, what's stopping someone from making a jpeg or gif virus or something?
