can use prescott on older 845 mb's?

I have intel 533 fsb 845 based mb would like to install new proc with 1mb cache. has anyone tried it?

Some do, but you might need a bios revision. Check the manufacturers website for information.

itll only work if there is a verified prescott support bios version for the board.
no new bios version, then no prescott support.

id strongly suggest an OCed 2.4b insted :)

The 1meg cache really doesn't give the prescott any performance increase over a northwood (until you hit about 3.6GHz). Does your 845 chipset mobo even support 200MHz FSB?

What he said. Prescott will be slower and run hotter.

Get a good Northwood, like THUGSROOK said, and overclock it.
