...trigger depression?

Say one rarely drank before now, but ended up drinking twice in one weekend because they had the opportunity. Coincidentally, this time of year is always rough as certain sports end (you miss the people who you practiced with), it's been winter for a while, and you miss the people/place you drank with (say it was a one time visit). Now of course, one is feeling somewhat down and less social about everything as well as tired. Mild depression? Just fatigue from rarely sleeping over the weekend?

Thoughts?

I really have no clue about this, so I'm just wondering.

Your title = ?:confused:?

Also: you're in high school. This is a very awkward and unsure time in your life. You'll get over it. You're likely not depressed, just a little sad.

I don't think so, if you drank with some people you haven't seen in a while and now they are gone you are probably just sad from that.

That was my thought exactly. I didn't even bother reading the rest of his post, I was hoping someone would translate that garbage to me first.

I think most people don't realize:

sadness != depression

Sadness is healthy expression of emotion, depression is the inability to express or feel emotion at all. Sadness is NOT depression.

I agree with konichiwa. What you are experiencing is a perfectly normal emotion, and drinking merely brings out its expression.

Just wait 'til you're whacking back a bottle of JD a night and trying to take the edge off with a six-pack.

It won't necessarily cause the depression, but it will certainly magnify the feelings that were already there (alcohol is a depressant after all).
