Can U Underclock a CPU...

Hello,

Was wondering if you can underclock a cpu to get it to run on an older motherboard.

Want to underclock a Pentium 3 1GHz to run on an Abit VA6.
The Abit VA6 takes P3 up to 733MHz +.

Or could this mobo handle this speed??

Any ideas..

I just checked the BIOS.

It has a 7.5X Multiplier setting this mobo also supports 133MHz FSB
So maybe i wouldnt have to Underclock it.

7.5 x 133= 998MHz.
Close enough...

Will this work.
Should I Update the BIOS??

most boards are listed with a slightly conservative "accepted speed" value but with bios revisions will support a wider range of chips = )
