they prolly gave you the wrong medicine.

unfortunately with syrup it can happen.

Did you get some generic cough syrup ? Those bottles all look alike. And most of the times, it's not the pharmacist that fill the prescriptions, it's the pharm techs.

If you take it back ( ASAP and talk to the pharmacist, he shouldn't have a problem refilling it for you )

Thats true, when I first stated taking Norco 1 pill is all I needed, up till 2 weeks ago I was up
to 5 per swallow, I stopped taking them it's been hard but I think its worth it in the long run :)

The chance you got the wrong med on a liquid controlled substance is nil. Most likely you are reacting differently for a variety of reasons.

You cannot return a medication. It is a violation of federal law.

Edited, cuz I should have added liquid. Thanks to vic for pointing out that I didnt say what I meant too :D

It's a controlled substance, yes. But they don't keep the syrups locked up somewhere. It's usually next to the syrups with no codeine.
A mix up could have happened. Shoot I made a mistake once putting in the wrong syrup.
The containers do look a lot alike, and when the pharmacy gets busy, that just makes it that much worse.

If he brings back the medication, the pharmacist would just usually discard it and give him a new bottle of medication with the old label. Well atleast that's how it was done when I worked at a pharmacy.

Of course they have. I still maintain that the chances on something like that are mighty slim. The probability of slycat reacting differently are far higher. Do I guarantee that? No. BTW, your Thorazine Rx is ready. :p

If I was working there I'd taste-test and compare the stuff in question with the real stuff. Or have the customer do it. I'm sure they wouldn't object. :p

This is true. Most pharmacists would replace it if there was a doubt, but I was referring to a refund. By rights, the pharmacist should discard the medication in the patients sight. Remember this a class III narcotic (depending on formulation). A pharmacist can be disciplined by the Board of Pharmacy, and his or her license acted against if not handled correctly. The pharmacist knows this of course, and most usually are more careful than usual because of this. Again, it does not guarantee perfection, but it is a strong incentive on it's own.

i react real strongly with the syrup w/codeine.
i mean i just took the supposed same thing 1week ago...so i know how it felt.
i DON'T think my reaction to it suddenly changed after 7 days.

This new prescription totally feels nothing like the before except they both tasted
awful.

Codeine puts me to sleep/lethargic in 15min....this new med does nothing after 1hour and i still feel
as awake as before so i know something is wrong.

Another thing that makes me suspicious is the old bottle had label "blah-blah-blah w/codeine"
This new pharm's label is "blah-blah-blah". Thats it...doesn't say codeine.

aren't they supposed to say what is really in it?...meaing if its with codeine, it needs to be stated?
And yes they were real busy when i was there. I waited for like 45min for them to friggin fill it.

Yes, it should say it. If the stuff you have doesn't say codeine it isn't the right stuff. Unless it uses the generic name. What chemicals does it list?

Only 1 ingredient...all handwritten with pen...nothing printed.
Says something like "Myo...tusin 240ml" something like that ...i forgot coz
i'm at work...don't have bottle with me but i was looking at it REAL CLOSE and
i know for a fact it doesn't say "cod", "codeine" anywhere.

Besides the 'medicine' part of mistake...aren't they also overcharging me if i'm paying
for syrup+codeine but getting only syrup?

If it makes any difference, not trying to be racial but this shop is like
totally 'chinese medicine' type place with a pharmacy. I'm just worried they
might give me sh1t if i bring the bottle back and they brush me off as being
ignorant or an ass.. :(
thats why i wanna know my rights or like what i can say before i think about venturing
down there.

Myo...tussin sounds like some sort of tussin compound. If it's one word it's basically Robotussin, though probably stronger. Regardless, the chemical formula for Codiene does not begin with "M". I'd say take it back and just ask them to make sure this actually has codiene in it because it isn't doing anything for you. That way you don't seem like a jerk, and if you cough and look all sickly they'll feel all sympathetic and such.

Gets 'em every time ;)

OK GUYS!...i called home and it says "MYTUSSIN AC"

wtf?!
Should i be worried?...can they sell me 'recalled' medicine?...
haha...and i think it does have codeine in it but read the recall..its for "subpotent codeine"
that explains why i have no real 'feeling' when taking this mixture.

cool, can u ask him if its ok to sell recalled meds?

What are you smoking ? why would a pharmacy or a pharmacist risk selling recalled medicine ?
If you bring it back they'll get rid of it.
They won't try to resell it.
