Can two religions

Say you have country A, and religion 1, and religion 2. Country is not split up, but both
religons intermingle through the entire country. Both religions are very protective of there
religion as a way of life ect ect. So is it possible for these two religions to go on
in peace indefinatly; or will one or the other "have" to destroy the other eventually?

A better question is can 2 nations of equal power coexist in peace?

They can, with a mutual destruction agreement, we saw that with the US and Soviet Union already, the religion question is different because it can lead to civil war/

Take a look at the USA. Just about every religion in the world has a place in this country and followers. While people have debates and arguments all the time, there has never been physical war between religions in this country. That's 229 years so far.

Even if you set it up to be 50/50, it wouldn't remain that way. The number of people that claim to follow a certain religion changes each year.

So, yes, it's possible to be peaceful but I don't think it's possible to remain in a 50/50 split.

Take a look at Islam and Hinduism.

It's not the general populace that cares, its the damn extremists.

Or Christians and Jews, or Muslims and Jews, or Muslims and Christians, or Christians and Christians, or Muslims and Muslims......

Can there be a general acceptance? I think so, but it takes a long time for it to happen. I'd say just look at race and religion in America. It wasn't that long ago that neighborhoods would work their hardest to keep blacks and Jews out. Or how about a black guy dating a white women in the beginning of the 20th century in Texas? He better be a fast runner!

so would racism and not accepting anothers religion to the point of armed conflict be one in the same?

Look at Japan in the 1500's at first there was only Sintoism, and then Buddism came in. Later, Portugese traders brought in Christianity. Add that to a weakend central government and warlord politics, you have total war and chaos. An 8-sided civil war. The golden age of the Samurai.

You should play the game Shogon. It may be a little outdated, but it was fun as hell. I think it's one of the best tactical-based strategy games.

I think they can peacefully coexist, but only if that has been the status quo for a long time. Any sudden changes in religious demographics will definitely lead to straining of relations and possible conflict.
That said, how in the heck did you get a country with a perfect 50/50 split with only 2 religions?

Will Christian religion of the West and Europe play a part in this is they suddenly become the minority?

Pretty much, you can just spot someone of a different race a bit easier. (With obvious exceptions)

So there would never be such a thing as "peace" or a sense of "being one in the same" but Tolerance for the other, and as we can see from history, tolerance always has it's breaking points right?
