by your logic you shouldn't you be spitting the mothwash back into the bottle to re use it, I mean it kills bacteria.

I wouldn't do that personally...not even with my wife.

We do share the same bottle of mouthwash though.

I wonder if it depends on the ratio of saliva & bacteria to alcohol? Like...if alcohol dissipates in a certain amount? I'd say it's not safe!

Would you still use it if someone coughed up some phlegm and spit it in the bottle?

Hmm.. I wondered that too when I used it. Here's what Crest's website says:
http://www.crest.com/prohealth/aboutRinseFAQ.jsp

I notice blue specks in my sink after I spit out the rinse. What are these?
The blue dye in Crest Pro-Health Rinse can bind to bacteria and debris in your mouth, making them more visible when you spit into the sink. Some consumers find that running water in the sink before expectorating the rinse helps prevent the blue debris from sticking.

Okay, I guess I misunderstood the poll. Are you talking about sharing the same bottle or swapping mouthwash (like spitting it into another person's mouth)?

Sharing the bottle is fine, I don't see why that would matter. Swapping it is kind of gross, it will still kill germs but spitting into someone else's mouth is just a gross image.

Pour it into your mouth instead of touching your lips to the bottle. Simple, easy, and effective.
