hi all,

not sure if anyone posted this before but i'm trying to do this and not sure if it can be done. basically, i have an existing linksys 4 port router (BEFSR41) and i want to add a wireless router (linksys BEFW11S4 ver. 2 ) on top of it. is this possible to do? i heard from a coworker that he couldn't get it to work.

i would think it's just basically to plug the wireless into the uplink from the BEFSR41 and since it's given dynamic ip anyway, it should work. but i guess i may be overlooking a lot of details in configuration and setup.

can someone help me resolve this issue and how to configure it so both works.

thank you in advance. :)

On those type of 'routers' it's better just to use the WAP as a repeater than a router. Plug the SWITCH that is also part of your WAP into the switched part of your router, leave the WAN port of the WAP disconnected. You may need a crossconnect cable.

Then, your WAP will act as a wireless-to-ethernet bridge.

Done.
