suppose the heatsink is pretty well fixed on the processor...is gently twisting the cooler a bad idea?

I thought not, but i heard that twisting the heatsink, can bend or even break the pins of the processor?

If you do it gently enough it should be ok. If it doesn't want to twist, don't force it.

Gently twisting is fine, just don't lift up while you twist.

Just be very gentle. If the heatsink is warm it may also help it to come off easier.
