Can Thunderbird work with a Microsoft Exchange Server?

My company uses webmail for external mail, hooked up through pop3, and Microsoft Exchange for internal mail (just between employees). I'm familiar with hooking up pop3 to Thunderbird, but can it do Exchange as well?

The exchange server can be configured to take IMAP connections and POP connections, and it's directory services can be ouput to LDAP, so you can get a good percentage of the functionality with Thunderbird. But to answer your question directly, no, you cannot truly use exchange server features with thunderbird. It's one of microsoft's key selling points for Outlook

The only feature I need to use is the internal mail function. I've never worked with Exchange before and our network guy is no longer with us, so nobody but the VP and engineering head touches the server now. Oh well :(
