corurupion? I was looking at this so when I ghost my laptop or my other computers drive I don't have to open up my case but I'm just wondering they can cause data loss or corruption. I will have to use 2 ATA 80wire cables to connect one drive so that would be 36" lenght of cable and plus the extra connection point . should I use one? or just open my case and not be lazy?

I would think it would work ok especially since your using the 80wire cables.
I use a USB hard drive to ghost with a FAT32 partition in the beginning of the drive.

That's allot of cable...why not just get some trays so you can swap out HD's?

It might run a bit slower than it otherwise would due to the cable length. But I don't think data loss will be an issue. The good effect of 80-wire cables only works with the blue end of the cable plugged into the mobo. From what I understand, that is the only point at which the extra 40 ground wires are connected. You can go ahead and try using 80-wire cable, but I'd probably use 40-wire cable from the adapter out.

IAC, some experimentation with non-critical data is in order.

http://www.geeks.com usually has 2.5" to standard 3.5" adapters that come with adapter frames which you wouldn't need to use in a tray or externally. Just put a piece of that sticky rubber sheeting in there to keep the drive from sliding around.
