hello i have 2 4 gig dual channel ram sticks and im looking at gettign a new mother board that supports triple channel .will the dual channel memory work in the triple channel motherboard.and read dual channel correct ?
 
heres the memory im looking to use i have 2 stickes which in trun is 8 gigs
CORSAIR XMS 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 Desktop Memory Model CMX4GX3M1A1600C7....

would like to use on a board like
ASUS Rampage III Gene LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

or will it read as tripple channel ? if i get 1 more 4gig stick
 
Yes .. Add a stick and you will have triple channel .. Your 2 sticks will run as dual channel on the new board also ..

Assuming you're using matched memory, the extra channel should mean a +50% boost in bandwidth.

Does this even matter? Most likely not. There aren't many programs that would need so much bandwidth.
