Surely this stuff is resident in memory and has no bearing 'cos its all ready in ram???

Sounds like B.S. to me, I'd assume that would all be in ram too, and if it weren't, so what? But some people do get better speeds by devoting more memory to the cache for their lan card, by changing their registry. I didn't, but I put it at 4mb, just in case.
