Why you'd want to run a 64-bit OS on a netbook beats the hell out of me. Ideally, I always viewed going for very light-weight OSes for netbooks to make them small, internet/notes when needed and only used to supplement a fully-functioning machine.
If the netbook is using the Atom N450. That processor is a 64bit processor and will run 64bit OS just fine. if its using the N270 processor then nope it won't. Since that processor is only 32bit.

Yep, it's N270. As far as why I wanted to run W7 on it is because if they ever need help with something, it would be easier to troubleshoot since I use it. Of course if the 32 bit version works then that would be fine. i'm just use to typing x64 since that's what I use.
64 bit has one big advantage in that is can handle RAM above 3.x GB. That can make multitasking better. But, even though a netbook can handle it, with only 2 GB of RAM or less, there's really not much to be gained. If X64 isw what you have or comes installed - no problem.;
