Can this motherboard support a Pentium 4 ?

According to Biostar it doesn't. But I have seen for example a Gigabyte G31 board supporting a Prescott CPU so technically there's nothing stopping it from running... But why not get a cheap dual core with that G31 mobo? It will be faster at everything than an ancient Prescott. You will feel the difference everywhere, even when running apps on the desktop.

Edit - there's a dude in the newegg comments saying he was told his P4 630 won't run, but he put it in and it ran fine. A P4 630 has a Prescott core, so your CPU may work fine in the end.

Edit2 - drat, missed Gillbot's link :p

If it was my personal computer, id throw the P4 away, its for a friend.

So it should work, but i will most likely have to get DDR2 ram right ?

I'd crack a joke that if you would bear to let a friend run a P4 in his system in this day and age you're not being a very good friend at all... unless you're giving the system to him for free in which case kudos to you. Can't fault charity.

Here you go. It doesn't list the Prescott models but the 65nm versions run fine (Cedar Mill) - you *should* be good to go... But it's the same chipset so I think it's the same "risk" of the CPU not working in the end.
